Senegal’s nightmares during this year’s World Cup seem to not stop at losing their best man, Sadio Mane. The Teranga Lions face another blow as they lose one of their defensive midfielders to injury in today’s opener against the Netherlands.

Cheikou Kouyate’s replacement in the 73rd minute saw the Netherlands get ahead with a goal in the final minutes. The Senegalese defence was significantly hurt as the Dutch doubled their lead through in the additional time to finish 2:0. It is a defeat for the African champions in the World Cup openers, and with two main men out, they are yet to face the worst.
